Mikayla was born in Hay River, NWT but moved to Leduc, AB in 2006 across from Gateway Family Church so naturally her family started attending (back when it was called) Leduc Family Worship Centre. Mikayla loved growing up in the church and youth group but fell away from her faith when her family stopped attending church in 2015. During this time away she became a single mother with her daughter Ava. In November 2021, she decided to give her life back to the Lord and attended Vanguard College for one year and got baptized at Hope City Church. 
 
God led her back to Gateway in August 2023 where she has been attending regularly and participates in Celebrate Recovery. She enjoys long boarding, sports, camping and spending quality time with her daughter and close family and friends. Mikayla is also in school at NAIT for Business Administration specialized in Entrepreneurship and Innovation. She dreams to run her own business one day.
